Discover OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY resources
What is occupational therapy? You might ask.
Occupational therapy is one of the most dynamic healthcare professions around. For example, in one setting you may be helping patients in the intensive care unit build their endurance after coronary artery bypass surgery. While in another setting, you might be in a grade school classroom using arts and crafts to help students improve their visual motor skills.
In a nutshell
Occupational therapists aim to create health promoting interventions that empower individuals to live fulfilling lives. A “fulfilling” life might include a person’s ability to participate in necessary, ordinary, and leisurely activities — regardless of any injury, disability, illness, environmental factors, or lifestyles

“Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.” -AOTA
